Badminton is a widely spread game in today's world. It's popularity is especially in the Asian countries, but gradually and slowly its taking away the hearts of many sports lovers all over the world. Badminton is one of the sports that is widely played as a casual recreational activity in gardens .
Badminton is a racquet sport played in mainly two levels that is singles and doubles in which the opposing players take on opposite halves of a rectangular court separated by a net.
Players scores point by striking the shuttlecock with their racket so
that it passes over the net and falls in to the opponents court.
Shuttlecock flight is mainly affected by wind that's why competitive
badminton is mainly played indoors.
Badminton demands aerobic stamina ,strength,speed and precision. It also requires good motor skills and development of racquet movements.
History and its development:

About the origin of badminton there are many versions. In the 17th century it is said to have been played in England in the royal courts record of U.K . Their is another version that
this game was played in Europe by the Royal Family of Poland.
The origin of badminton is also traced from India.It is believed that badminton was first played in India by British officials in 1877. The game went along the army officers to England. In 1887 the rules were framed by Bath Badminton Club of
England. The first national organization,England Badminton Federation was formed in 1893.
The International Federation was founded in 1934. In the beginning nine countries i.e. Australia,Denmark,India,Malaysia,Norway,Sweden,U.S.A.,Mexico,Netherlands started national championship.In mid 1960's ,40 countries joined the federation.
Badminton has produced world class players in the past few decades and dominated competition on the international level with China being the most dominant in recent years.

History of sports ..........

Structures suggest that chinese engaged in sports far from 4000 B.C. Gymanstic appeared mainly from the chinese culture. Monuments of the pharaohs indicate that sports including swimming and fishing, were well developed and regulated thousand of years ago in Egypt. Other sports like javelin throw , high jump and wrestling also flourished from Egypt.
Development of sports in Greece took a good shape till the time of ancient Greece and military culture. Influenced by the sports Greeks only created the Olympic games which were earlier held in the village called Peloponnesus.
Sports have been regularly organized from the time of ancient olympics up to the present generation . Industrialization have proved to be a major cause for the greater participation in athletic activities . Professionalism further added to sports popularity as fans started following their sports idols.
In this new millennium , sports have been growing from physical to psychological concept of competing. Electronic sports organization have become more popular.

Today sports is not just about a leisure or about mind relaxing but its a dream career for many youths and the upcoming generation. These days parents have shaped their mind in a broader way and now they think that not only studies but sports can also prove to be a career for their young ones by virtually observing enormous success in various fields of sports.
Not only success but sports lead to a happy ,vigorant and abundant life. Sports give many ample oppurtunities to a person to learn traits like cooperation, loyalty, sportsmanship and respect to others, which can make a person a better human being and a contributing person towards his country. By involving in sports a person is able to learn history, traditions,religion,etc. and aesthetic value of other cultures.Sports, especially requires primarily mental skill and a physical involvement. Sports require a commitment, strategy and fairplay in which a winner defined by many means mainly objective.
